Evan Fowler is an Iowa City based trumpet teacher and performer. He currently is a DMA candidate at the University of Iowa where he studies trumpet with Dr. Amy Schendel and serves as the graduate research assistant.

Evan is a member of the Iowa Brass Quintet, faculty ensemble in residence at the University of Iowa. He coaches the University of Iowa Trumpet Ensembles which have appeared at the International Trumpet Guild Conference (2017 and 2018) and National Trumpet Competition (semi-finals 2017, quarter-finals 2018 and 2019).

He also has appeared twice as a soloist at the National Trumpet Competition (semi-finals graduate solo division 2016 and 2017) and coached the Texas State University Trumpet Ensemble (National Trumpet Competition semi-finals 2015 and 2016).


Evan's students have excelled in performances at local solo contests; been selected to the Birch Creek Symphony Program; won positions in the Quad Cities Youth Symphony Orchestra; earned positions in the Iowa All State Band; and have won college scholarships to Luther College, the University of Northern Iowa and the University of Iowa.

Evan has a research interest in the performance and teaching of music with live electronics and is pursuing a recording project of new music for that medium, which will be completed in December of 2019. Evan holds a Master of Music in Trumpet Performance from Texas State University (Dr. Keith Winking) and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Eastern Illinois University (Dr. Andrew Cheetham. He enjoys traveling with his wife Tiffany and spending time with their three dogs.
